Swim!  Bike!  Run!  Volunteer!

Our races would not be possible without the support of many volunteers. If you can help out at one of our events, please select the appropriate sign-up link below:

You can volunteer for more than one activity if they don’t overlap in time. Take this opportunity to support our club and come out for the camaraderie and fun. Feel free to ask your friends, family, or neighbours to be partners in crime.

Triathlon Volunteer Position Descriptions:

Registration –pre-race morning, 8-9 people to check off names, hand out race packages and timing chips (when provided) on race morning, and answer questions of eager or anxious participants.

Swim Course – for those who love the water, we need 6 or more kayakers/paddle boarders/canoeists to provide swim support and 2 swimmers to help Kim Young follow and support the last swimmers.

Bike Course – we need up to 18 people to be out on the bike course making sure everyone stays on course and controlling traffic where needed.  There will be professional flaggers working the two busiest intersections.

Run Course and Events – about 10 people to guide traffic and runners, and 2-3 people to look after the water station (a good opportunity for parent(s) with kids who are old enough to hand out water).

Backup Timing – we can use about 4-6 people to do some backup timing in case there are any problems with the chip timing.  This job will involve things like operating a stopwatch, recording bib numbers and times as people exit the water, come back from the bike, and cross the finish line, and collecting bib tags and chips from finishers. If you like to be in the middle of the action, this is a good job for you.

Transition Setup – pre-race Sunday morning, people to help set up the transition area by pounding in rebar, installing orange fabric fencing, setting up bike racks, etc. under the direction of Transition Captain.  If you’re volunteering for something else and have time, think about coming out early to help with setup.

Transition Assistance – a couple people to answer participants’ transition questions and help direct participants in and/or out of transition.

Running Race Volunteer Position Descriptions:

Registration –on race morning, people to check off names, hand out race numbers, and answer questions of eager or anxious participants.

Timing –about 4-6 people to record runners’ finish times. This job will involve things like operating a stopwatch, recording bib numbers and times as people cross the finish line, and collecting bib tags from finishers. If you are alert and like to be in the middle of the action, this is a good job for you.

Run Course – about 10 people to guide traffic and runners, and 2-3 people to look after the water station (a good opportunity for parent(s) with kids who are old enough to hand out water).

Start/Finish Setup – pre-race Sunday morning, people to help set up the finish area by inflating the finish arch, delineating the finish chute with rope lines, and marking out parking areas with barriers and cones. If you’re running the race or volunteering for something else later in the race, think about coming out early to help with setup.
